That is too damn funny! Submitted just as Jill's post went hot! Plagiarism indeed :)
Story: The Value of 50 Sphinns
I've actually found Sphinn has been sending far more traffic over the past month or so. Hot posts have been generating 400+ visitors, which is well above the 200 or so I used to get. Not quite sure if that's due to an increase in usage...?
Geez... who would have thought people would take this post so seriously...? The geek part was just a bit of fun and not the actual substance of the article, but it seems to have certainly touched a sensitive nerve with some.
Agree that it's a great idea from an SEO perspective. But I do wonder about the perception of a normal customer. How will they feel about the request (if they even understand it)? Do we love trawling through the link request emails we receive?

Story: Is Desphinning rude?
I've never cast a Desphinn, mainly because I'd really have to passionately disagree with the viewpoint to consider it appropriate. I treat other social media outlets in a similar fashion. Even when it came to the Lyndon debate, in which I had a fairly strong opinion, I refrained because I still had some appreciation for the success Lyndon achieved.
Like others have mentioned, I simply don't cast the vote if I don't believe it's worthy. I think a Desphinn based on a minor disagreement is somewhat fickle.
I suspected the article would be misinterpreted by some people. That's ok. They're entitled to their opinion. The feedback has been predominantly positive, so I don't believe currying favour was the general perception.
Bah... why does Plurk karma matter anyway. Isn't it about socialising and networking...?
Story: Must Read WordPress SEO
Completely awesome post. Now if I could just find the time to implement it all.. :)
I got the same pop up as Maki. Very annoying, but even worse it disabled my ability to scroll to read the rest of the article (and covered the remaining content). Didn't pop ups go out years ago?
Absolutely! I started my blog as a personal branding exercise. Graphic designers have their portfolios... I have my blog to demonstrate my skills, thoughts & expertise. Not long after I started it I landed a new job at the biggest digital agency in the country. I'm certain my blog played a strong part in that employment opportunity.
Thanks for the submission Robin. Proof in point that commenting and relationship building leads to social media support.
I see your point Brian, but given that the audience is comprised of Internet professionals, I'm hoping most of us can work it out :) Lord help us if we can't...
I'm with Nick re the Desphinn on this article. This is an important discussion and naturally Matt's opinion on the issue is of great importance to us all (particularly copycats). Personally, I had stopped following the comments on the original linkbait post, so this post brought my attention to Matt's remarks.
Woo hoo! I made the list. Thanks webprofessor. Great resource for anyone who's new to Sphinn.
I don't think the video is edgy enough to go wildly viral. It is clever, but lacks the sensationalism that drives viral. The humour is also a little too subtle for mass audience methinks.
What it really needs is some 13 year olds and hookers... :)
