It was so frustrating only having 12 minutes to talk, I had asked for three hours but was told no ;) . So I had to go with the short version.

This subject is so important to what we do, it really needs further investigation. Because those who learn how to gain attention effectively are going to be those who will always have an edge.

Very useful for those learning seo and even more useful for those who think they know it all already.

It's good enough to make the point, and making the point was my goal. Not wowing people with my analytical prowess ;)

Interesting the point about attracting rather than shouting. It's all about seduction.

@Dorian, it's not really difficult, so long as you put the hours in and have the right attitude.

Whether it's easy or not really depends on the kind of person you are.

Just to clarify, the article is not by me, but the submission is. The grammer is far too polished to be one of my creations.

Great headline, and I just know I am going to like the article.

I guess it was new to me, but Wordtracker is doing some interesting new things which help make the life of the seo easier.

Having had the pleasure of spending quality time with her at SMX London, discussing the finer points of desert islands and how good writing is really about seduction. I can say that she is a smart, genuine person who can actually hold a conversation other than about seo.

She was a pleasure to meet.

There is such a vast difference between good content and outstanding content. The difference can be a huge amount of links.

It's becoming more natural. A case of seducing rather than being a aggresive. Humans should make the choice, not an algo. But here's the thing about humans, they are predictable and follow patterns, just like a search engine algo.

Simply crack the algo and serve up food the human brains wants to feed on. It really is that simple.

We are not ordinary participants, we are marketers. Our view must be to find out how to exploit such systems to our advantage. This is after all a marketing forum, not a social hippy forum.

digg is a corporation and has to watch the bottom line, it's purpose is to make money. All decisions must ultimately bend to this goal. Although most of the recent bans are clearly against the TOS, Zaibatsu's ban is clearly in a murky area.

Some say digg must not play favourites, bollocks. Of course it must, you put more into the site you should get more respect, full stop. Collaberative social sites MUST reward concientious, and hard working contributors.

It's kind of weird when you think of the people who don't get banned who are basing their business model around gaming the site, *cough*

@g1smd in my experience it's usually not the "rockstars" fault, more the client for not letting them do the do.

Yeah my description is not going to win the Sphinn accuracy of year award ;) You got me, but it's an interesting read. Some great stuff coming out of E consultancy these days.

I wonder who does Asda's seo, I would love someone to do a list of the UK corporates and list who does their seo. We could all have a jolly good laugh whilst eating our biscuits.

I think it's a shame, because as professionals it's useful to have a place we can share information and connect. But somehow the t**ts seem to ruin it and roam the place in rabid gangs, foaming at the mouth, wasting peoples time promoting sh**t.

I absolutely have no problem with people debating and disagreeing, but when you get the c**ts, f**king up the place with idealogical bile and emotional immaturity it just gets tedious.

I think it's quite clear that I don't mind a knock around. However, I think there is a difference between silly nonsense and a serious, professional debate which furthers the collective knowledge.

Gardening clubs and quilting bees are hobbies. I'm here to make money, not grow turnips or sew. This is supposed to be a place for professionals, arguing for it's own sake is for amatuers.

What other industry can a noob get feedback from high flying profesional? As the man once said, "there is a reason they are high flyers, they work harder than you do.

Try starting a career in TV and see what happens when you contact Jonathon Ross with a question?

I love it that I can mix with the big boys and girls, although not really a noob I still feel like one.

Eric Wards' articles are the best thing on Searchengineland.com, couple where he is coming from with a little lateral creative thinking and boy you got something real purdy.

There are no ethics in seo, only what works and what does not work.
