It's often hard for us to even envision what may happen through our little deceptions and "evil" actions, but we must remember that once it's out there on the net, it's out there and you can't really make it go away - not ever.
There are so many things you can do that seem fairly harmless at the time that can come back and take a really big bite out of your butt! Things like creating false personas, commenting as someone you are not, "exchanging" links and then no-following them, saying mean or untrue things about people to get links or to make yourself look better, etc. Some people can obviously justify to themselves that doing these things are okay, but we all really know they are not. We know they are just Machevellian bullies.
Think karma. Think golden rule. Then, think sustainability for your business and your reputation. Thanks Kim!
Hey David,
The response is as expected. This will be a great industry resource. I'm soooo glad you picked me to be on your team! Thanks, Mary
My first reaction to this is that it may be relevancy-based and meant to help separate name and brand searches from other searches. Google interpreting intent - iif I search for something by name, I am more likely to capitalize it. What do you think?
Hi Danny,
In regard to Google Maps, I'd like Marrisa to tell us:
1. Do duplicate descriptions of your business (in your business profiles that are found on different websites, like Yahoo Local, InsiderPages, AskCity, etc) help or hurt your rankings in Google Maps. Is there any benefit to making them either the same or unique?
2. Do more web references (that is, web pages that talk about your business) help you in Google Maps? If so, does the quality of those web references matter? And how?
3. Why is there sometimes a large discrepancy between the results displayed in the local 10 pack at the top of the blended SERPs and the top 10 results found within Google Maps for the same search query?
4. If Google Maps finds or receives differing data about a business, what trumps what?
Good luck! Mary
Hey Danny,
Did you get a chance to ask any of these questions? Where can we find the answers? Thanks!
The IYPs know they rock and are in fact rather smug about it. SEMs need to get out there and fight them on their own turf if they expect to win this battle.
