As I said on my blog, I am using Chrome for everything I am working on because it is MUCH faster, but I am still keeping IE and FF on because of toolbars and add-ons. I think once more is available for Chrome the usage will go way up.

Google Analytics for the last 2 days:

IE: 57.95%
FF: 34.87%
Chrome: 4.62%
Safari: 2.56%

I tend to explain why things should be done and how they are beneficial to the client. At times I delicately explain why certain methods may not be as helpful or just not helpful at all. If I feel like something is being done that will hurt the client's site I tell them. It may not make me popular with some, but typically the owners or presidents of companies appreciate the truth.

Neyne, saw the same thing. Not sure how these are "relevant" results as the news claims.

Well, my new site at SEO Aware was built with wordpress and all i can say is that there were problems after problems after the last 2 updates. The site is working well now, but lots of things to work through.

I was asked to do a local SEO bare basics workshop in my home town by the local economic development council. We said we were only stating the basics and we discussed what to ask and look for when hiring web designers and SEO companies.  So, this one guy came and has been emailing me about how he is "educating others on SEO"...an hour and a half on the basics and he is now qualified to educate...

So, here is something that made my mad at first then had me laughing. He sends me a "carefully constructed paragraph for SEO" to go on his web site...63 random terms seperated with the three spaces each. So, I respond and explain why this could not work and could hurt him. I asked if he researched these terms and he responded yes. He got them from the categories of Superpages cuz that is what people are searching for. So, this guy believes he is now qualified to teach and impliment seo strategies.

I have a list of favorite SEO blogs, I read others. I have read some blogs that many people here love and there is information in articles I don't agree with. I stick to the same blogs and sites; I do read the blogs in the search caps and I have found some from Sphinn, but I eliminate more than I bookmark.

What is to stop the guy I discussed from starting his own blog? Nothing. He thinks he knows it. He thinks he is so educated he can teach it. So, like with anything on the net you have to assume it is crap. Unfortuntely, some poor guy may come along and think that having paragraphs that make no sense is an effective way to do well on Google, just cuz this guy says it is so.

Pringle, I wasn't just saying a phone number, I mentioned it because most people do optimize for addresses and locations, but they forget phone numbers. I also like it because I can just touch it on my PDA and make a phone call.

True, but there are several industries where there is one code of ethics and I think it makes things much easier.  If we can't "standardize" the industry and we have no code of ethics I don't see why anyone should trust any SEO company or consultant.

Well, it was just an opinion. In my past life we had a code of ethics, I guess that is what I am use to. I will shut up and let you all figure it out.

Yojpotter2, I agree. I am a bit surprised that I received a comment that said "I'm sick of hearing about ethics and standards in SEO...". He even said the article was pointless. It is sad that he missed the whole point and included his business link. That is the last thing I would ever want potential clients to see.

This really worries me because they could forever destroy the reputation of SEO in a heartbeat.

As I asked on the blog, I noticed a change, but only after my hosting company insisted I add the WP-Cache Plugin to my blog. Anyone else notice this?

Danny, I would love to see a tutorial on how to remove dates in URLs with wordpress without messing everything up. I would have to screw up my PR and/or my indexed pages.

I completely agree! I have said it before, you wiould be shocked at how many people email me, essentially, yelling at me for discussing meta tags, especially keywords.

 Thanks for the comment :-)

He doesn't live in Florida. My point is that some are putting all their eggs in one basket. Many also ignore demographics and do not do their research. If the company my father used did some research they could have appealed to the right markets.

Thank you Tanner. My goal was to educate beginners and small businesses that are gearing up for the web.

What bugs me is that sometimes a blog may have something valuable in it, but you have to REALLY read it to see the information. You can't just scan everything and see the valuable parts. Additionally, there are times that people see beyond what is right infront of your face and see things that others may not. I think that many of these blogs are ignored at times and not given a chance.

There are a lot of Sphinn users that work in a large variety of industries. One person may see something that is valuable to them and they may want to share it with others in similar industries. I think there could be more categories to submit topics under which could eliminate some of these issues.

I do see Promo's point very clearly. I think that the "Elite" he is talking about never will because they are who there are. They get Sphunn so fast it will make you head Sphinn! ;-)

Just like other social media sites there are networks that support one another. There are many times that I see a lot of highly Sphunn topics that have nothing to offer me, but they are valuable to someone out there. I don't slam it if it doesn't apply to me, but I see some of the things Promo brought up.

Just my thoughts....
