I personally have yet to meet a good programmer who has not at one point looked into cookie stuffing and whether or not it works.

I have written something about that http://firetown.blogspot.com/2008/08/forums-and-social-media-future.html here the other day and believe that forum usage will decrease rapidly, but there are types of persons who will continue using them.
Social media is like watching TV and using forums like reading a book.

yeah I wished I had been there myself, but great to have a friend go and pass on the info. There are only so many conventions in a year which you can attend :)

Not a cool list; more like an open-invitation to spam the heck out of those sites."
And an open encouragement to newbies to waste their time.

I just noticed one of my old forums is on the list and sure enough, I had to just edit some posts from people who use fake signatures. Maybe you should teach people how to set up a signature in a forum before you encourage them to join forums for the benefit of a signature.

You guys are all nuts ;) Th convention parties are so much fun. If you;re shy, just have a few drinks and I´m sure you will have the nerve to talk to whoever there is. :)

You really cannot have it both ways. One may argue that some people get more attention than others because they are good looking women and the marketing representative of company X hiring does so because she's hot.

the same way life develops, search will. whatever people want to do in real life, is going to be imitated by algorithms and new social networks. The need to find likeminded people to connect with, information aboutthings of interest and anything to make your life easier (finding things faster and such).

I do believe that the link strategy works, regardless of ownership of material. You need to sometimes go with the popularity, and "real links" reflect those generally speaking. I personally believe that algorithmically Google has no responsibility to determine who owns something and who doesn't, but when specific cases are brought to their attention, they need to use some common sense and ice the squatters for the sake of credibility.

"For example, anything over three years old should automatically be deleted 100%."
John, I agree with that 100%
Google has been playing it safe using old results as an indicator of authority, but old outdated results will not satisfy users who want news. It is a shame that I have searched for some competitive real estate related terms and come accross sites probably getting 500 uniques daily because of Google and having found out thru a phone call that the site owner died 2 years ago and his widow just keeps his site up because she wants to keep his work alive.

I like McCain and think Paris is hot, so I am unbiased as well, and I thought it was definitely entertaining.
