I'm still seeing the issue in SERPs, and I see no evidence of changes when navigating to either link. ;-)
My post was posing a theoretical scenario as I was interested in what people might suggest was important to consider for a generic launch campaign. Of course, it's quite difficult in some ways to avoid questions about the specific issues relating to a specific launch.
I guess I am asking about the elements and considerations that are common to most campaigns. Therefore, Andy's post above (and the others) would provide a short checklist of some of the things to ask yourself when preparing your strategy.
Now we just need to extend the checklist to get towards what might be described as 'best practices'. I figured that here would be the perfect place to conduct this sort 'poll of peers'. ;-)
I've just posted quite a UK biased review of it on my blog. It really is great stuff, if you target the US. ;-)
Story: How do I report posts?
Hi Danny. Well, I imagined you must have had something in place, but it looked like that stuff had bypassed it. As usual, you guys are a step ahead of the game. ;-)
Ha! I wonder when they will sort out their canonical url issue, famously brought up by Rand @ SEOmoz in his million dollar post: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/dear-digg-million-code
Story: Spinner #500: Congrats Red5!
Thanks for your comment Andrew (and sorry it's taken so long to reply) - you make some good points. Indeed, there are a few limitations with using this approach.
To be frank, I don't think numbers in urls (or for that matter stop words) to be a major issue. However, I imagine that having simple text urls might help SEO in some way, however small. I'm guessing but I also think that there may be usability benefits with simpler urls - they're easier to read and are more recognisable. This might help increase trust and click-through rates.
Having said that, I agree that duplication of urls is an issue so some sort of solution for that would be necessary, and the point about Google News is interesting.
Thanks. :-)
Story: Sphinn Beta: Known Bugs
There are some odd formatting problems in FF 2.0:
[FIXED] http://sphinn.com/live_published - page specific tabs and headings overwrite each other.
[FIXED] http://sphinn.com/comments - Long names (like dannysullivan) overwrite the time column.
However, I love the new site! Congratulations!!
Story: Sphinn Beta: Known Bugs
Just tried replacing my profile picture, however the old image remains stubbornly in-place. Also, I clicked save by mistake instead of upload and got an error message "Only these file types are allowed : jpeg, gif, png" but it was located above your site header.
EDIT: It appears that the image was in fact changed, but the new image was not displayed on the page. When I moved away from the page to my Info page the new image was displayed.

Hi, I've no idea if this is a 'bug' or not (it could be a 'feature'). I had a story pulled for being too old just now, and the comments for it are still shown in http://sphinn.com/comments
