I'm not quite sure what this has to do with In-House..?
"Although there was some great live blogging of SMX Advanced, nobody to my knowledge summarized key takeaways for in-house search marketers. "
I'd have to say no one yet has done that, still.
And what's with the "Carfax Vehicle History" anchor text on SEL?
Does she work at "Carfax Vehicle History" or CARFAX, Inc.?
Story: How the SEO Bubble Will Pop
@jeremykuo - Darwinian outcome! nice!
I'd add: Clean SEO from skilled practioners will always be in demand. No matter the reputation that the industry has, site optimization for search engines will always be a best practice event useful to both site owner and search engine.
This is just as useful reading as "The Fart Classification Guide" on the same site.
Story: Happy 1st Birthday, Sphinn!
Bad re-title of Barry's original: Most SEOs Don't Report Competitors To Google.
You're insinuating that SEOs are thieves?
As I commented on the Roundtable:
Rather than a sign of unity, I'd think this as an indication that people don't want to use the system in place for reporting. If reporting could be done anonymously, ie not within a GWT account associated with one's own sites, then I think Google would see a greater volume of submissions.
BTW- If SEOs aren't reporting, then I doubt anyone is.
Can anyone recommend a consistent or recent source for finding this same info for other countries?
Interesting observation - I guess it could really affect your job search (chance of getting hired) if a scorned spouse or others feel it's necessary to publicly discuss such things.
Hmm - pre-nups of the future may need i-privacy policies?
I suppose "Connect" is a better name than Web2.0 or MyWeb or Feed or RSS or Reader or etc.
This could also be titled: "17 things you should stop posting about on Sphinn"
Umm, the link on the SEL page with anchor "SEO/SEM best practices" is an email address for the author...?
It's ironic that this is probably the worst headline-compared-to-content that I've read in a long time.
I'm just going to add one: Interest.
I've worked with some capable people who were intelligent and fit the bill otherwise, but didn't really seem passionate about the subject. I'd consider that a requirement in this industry.
lol - sure! wouldn't they all WANT to!
Yahoo's problem is that they can't figure out 2003 let alone tomorrow!
A Desphinn! - nice, it's my first!
I'm honored to get a Desphinn esp. from Graywolf.
I enjoy Guy's writings, but I haven't found myself to be a fan of anything he's launched or even invested in lately. Great personality for a once-in-a-while antogonist interview, though.
Congrats to Boris and SMS for trying where others have been unable to suceed.
Agreed re: SEW blog. Keep that for serious matters only. Take the sense of humor, if that's what this is, out of the news if SEW is going to stay a serious site.
Story: We Don't Need SEO Standards!
I disagree that we don't need standards... but maybe calling them standards isn't suitable.
I wouldn't have a problem, at all, with a "Code of Ethics" - in fact I'd think it'd be good for the industry to endorse such...
Maybe setting standards is too rigid of a description of what is needed. But a Code of Ethics (Though shalt not 1,2,3,10) could be a real simple way for SEO practitioners to label themselves, to clients, as one type of SEO vs. the other.
And if the SEO doesn't abide by living up to that code, then the client would have a little recourse, maybe - but that's another topic.

A period at the end of Kalena's sentence broke the url. Here is the link:
