Sadly I fear the title might have made less people vote for it, hopefully they do go through to the great article though

I've actually noticed some holes in the current set-up in terms of being able to see some information of others. I'm going to email Chris now and then I'll update the response as I think this is a great tool everyone should enjoy, I just hope data isn't available for everyone.

We had it set so if you got logged out of your stats it defaulted to BLVD's stats demo and there were occasions where when you scrolled over a referrer it would show a refferer from another site, but never where you can see anyone elses full stats as far as we know.

Yeah that was the issue, emailed you about it yesterday just to make sure it wasn't a glitch. It is quite strange though as I have a direct link to my analytics and keep seeing that of BLVD Status. I noticed a few pages where there is no link back to home etc so I'll send you another email

Great service though guys, I recommend everyone to use it, really loving it

James Duthie - We're destroying and abusing the very nature of social media. Which is ironic when so many of the articles we produce ourselves describe processes to leverage social media.

I assume this is a bot?

I've been trying to click it as often as possible on Spammy submissions. Is there any chance that we could change it so that only one person has to click 'report as spam' for a story to get moderated

Actually, that's probably a bad idea as it's so easy for people to abuse the system. Maybe it's time to give some users a little extra power so we (not saying I should be one of those users) don't need to wait for others to report as spam before a topic goes into moderation

Just my thoughts

Sorry to go against the grain here (and nothing against you Mike) but I don't think he offers anything of value in this interview.

He obviously rushed some of his responses:

"I was very late to blogging because I thought it was inherently
arrogant–that is, that you had to believe cared what you thought about
everything.
" - What?

"You need to ask Neil Patel or Darren Prowse about
this stuff.
" - Prowse?

I'll admit I originally Sphunn this because I'm a big fan of Guy's but I didn't really take anything out of this

Just to add, I 'desphinned' it because I had Sphunn it originally, usually i would just let it go :)

Seriously though, if this wasn't on the verge of going hot I would have also just let it go. I'm sure this will go hot regardless.

I'm sure it will, I love how submitter / site owner is thumbing down our comments as well ;)

@homelessSEO it is only basic if you know how to do it. Subsequently it's often the 'basics' that get the best results

I don't see the big problem. There are 20 stories on the homepage, how difficult is it to ignore just one of them. And if you don't like Sphinn then simply don't use the website, I for one find great value in the news I get over here.

Regarding the Lisa story I think it's a credit that sphinn is such a close knit community and we can know our members personally, I don't know any other websites like that. Maybe it didn't deserve to be frontpaged but if it stops you from using a site then you musn't have enjoyed it that much in the first place.

I have to agree with Onreact, I was expecting a little more. In terms of traffic, my last Sphinn frontpage sent 347 visitors.

And what's with the blue-text-on-blue-background footer links with anchor text "online reputation management"?

That is after you have visited the page, not a normal link. I'll go and change that now. I had sorted it for the header but forgot about the footer, not that it is really relevant.

I'm all for enrepreneurs getting started on the web, and writing about your first $1k on your site is fine, but promoting it here on Sphinn?  Come on folks! If making $1k after writing an ebook over two months is news for a marketing community, we may have a problem.

Loving the negativity, I guess that's what happens when you start getting anywhere. I didn't write the post to 'show-off' making $1,000. I wrote it to share my experiences. If you've seen the number of emails I've had about this then it would make sense writing about the process, the money factor is irrelevant and just something I wanted to include. I don't even class the eBook as hugely successful. It is what it is.

A more interesting story might be how one of the most popular Sphinners of 2007 only made 40 sales of his online reputation management ebook despite working on it for two months, and getting some very well known SEO names to write public testimonials.

Incase you didn't read fully, that wasn't two months of solid work if you are interested. The main reason I believe sales weren't as huge as you seem to expect is that not everyone understands why they would need reputation management, or at least not until they have a problem...maybe you should speak to Andy Beal if you need another thought on that comment.

Thanks anyway John, have a nice day

A lot of the info is basic, although Ann clearly has a solid grasp on the subject and puts things together nicely.

Not sure why she isn't writing for her own site as much though

Good stuff Ann
