Well, Okay.
I haven't been to sphinn since I wrote this post on my blog about "Why I don't Like Sphinn" and I have not been visting or using this site, as promised, and haven't missed out, in my opinion. I returned today as I was informed that quite a few comments had been popping up of late on the sphinn of my post, and I should take a look.
Has a Sphinn gotten this many comments with so few Sphinns before. Especially with some well known names? I guess I touched a nerve, which is a good. Sphinn needs revamping and until then I will wait before sphinning again.
I still firmly agree that sphinn is a gated community (props to John for stating this again) so the people inside the gate will love it and the majority outside will find it frustrating and move on. In a way, Sphinn has become its own worst enemy - by becoming a hotspot for the "elite" Internet Marketers they have alienated many of the "trench workers".
Yes, yes it is about time. This quote from the article shocked me.
"Since 2002 the NCMEC has pored over 13 million child sex abuse images and videos in an effort to help police identify and rescue children from harm."
13 million? Horribly amazing!
Thanks for the great April Fool's joke using our comic. Glad it could be a useful tactic for humor on other sites besides ours.
Rand has created the monster and now seeks to destroy his abomination. Reminds me of another monster story that rhymes with Spankenstien.
Story: Google Advance Search
I agree, looking into the advanced search options proved by Google can really help. It has helped our SEO company price jobs more accurately since we can quantify competiveness more accurately.
Most SEO experts have some level of obsession with Matt Cutts, if only in their deepest subconscious. He haunts our dreams. ;-)
Thanks for the Sphinn. My company created the comic and I submitted it to Sphinn the day it went live. Sadly, the STumble page got just as many Sphinns as I did (10). I guess it is all in who you know here at Sphinn.
Thanks, Colleen. We have some more funny ideas and we will be publishing a new comic at the beginning of April. I just returned from SES in New York and got a lot of ideas from the topics discussed.
My thoughts exactly. Although we have had press releases rank in the top 3 less competitive terms and then have had both the page we were targeting and the press release rank at the same time in the top 5.
Sorry, Danny. I did search before I posted and didn't see any results. Feel free to remove this as I didn't want to submit duplicated information.
Story: 13 SEO Tips for WordPress
Thanks for this Sphinn. I do most of these anyway, but it will help to put it all down as a checklist. I would add that you should use SEO Title from Stephan Spencer as well. http://www.netconcepts.com/seo-title-tag-plugin/
A quote from the post :"Don't send your content away to an article directory, build a library on your site and stock it with your articles."
I still struggle with this for our clients. Reading it here only makes me wonder more. Is it better to keep the article on your site or get links with it or try both?
My partner Chris Alexander wrote this, he is the technical side of our brain trust. We will look at these issues in the future, but all your points are well taken. Thanks.
Dalka,
If you do write a post, let me know and I'll be happy to link to your post. This goes for anyone who adds to this thought. Send me an email and let me know. Thanks.
I'll add this. It doesn't really matter if it helps your ranking or not, it will help conversions so everyone should be thinking about it and making an effort towards positive reviews. I am will show any results that are definitive, but we do so many things for our clients, it can be hard to say which "does the trick" so to speak.
MattC,
I respect your comment and of course everything can be abused but if you are linking to your site with your own pictures I see nothing wrong with it.
You can email them to me at shell@bigoakinc.com or add them as comments. I'm flexible either way. I'll post the emailed haikus on the post itself and the comments will add themselves after I approve them. Your call. Thanks for the submissions.
All the new submissions are great. Thanks again for your submissions. Please check back and read the new ones. Great diversion.
I was glad to see my SEO blog didn't make any of these mistakes. Thanks for the refresher in creating a good SEO blog and any blog for that matter.
Okay, I'll bite and make this my first Sphinn. Your strategy worked, I tracked a link to my Big Oak SEO Blog and found the article.
