Story: 5 Ways SEO is Like LOST
Asking a mathematician about PR might make sense if PR still behaved like it did when the Google Boys first published their paper. I don't think many of us believe that to be the case, however.
There is some good advice in there, but I wonder if perhaps the title should be, "30 Link Buying Tips if You Believe all of Google's FUD".
I know a guy that got dinged by RipOff Report. He refused to pay the extortion money.
Might consider running that article through a spelling and grammar checker...
No way, dude! Danny is the best! No one knows more about the search engine industry than he does!
Unless your post turns out to be true. Then I'll suck up to Rand. ;-)
But wouldn't such spammers only click on the paid search ads if they're buying from one of their competitors?
According to the "pundits", SEO has been facing imminent death for what, four or five years now?
The size of the agency can make a big difference. Smaller agencies tend to have fewer standard processes, which is both an advantage and a disadvantage.
Larger agencies have to fight against the urge to focus more on perceived value than actual value. Both are clearly important, but if actual value is not being delivered, the client is not being properly served, even if they think that they are.
Large agencies also tend to have pockets of quality staff and pockets of not so quality staff. Ensuring high quality top to bottom is a definite challenge.
Looks like someone is trying to game Alexa. :-)
Another thing to consider is free hosting through Blogspot and such, and a dedicated domain. Certainly the Blogspot solution is cheaper, and there are quality, high traffic blogs there.
To me, though, seeing a blog on a unique domain suggests a certain amount of dedication to the project.
If there's a penalty, it's probably for the selling of links, not the purchasing of them. Also, they come up for their actual domain, which, to me, looks like a penalty implemented by hand.
It begs the question, however, why didn't the other brokers get hit? Yes, TLA is probably the largest, but they're far from the only players in the space.
IMHO, Danny's podcast is really the only one worth listening to anyways.
The URL for the plugin download doesn't seem to work for me. How are others getting it to work?
Ahh, yes. They changed it. Thought I had forgotten how to use the internet for a moment.
There are actually four P's: Product, Price, Promotion and Place. If my memory of my marketing classes from way back is correct, it's a concept first created by Kotler.
And, I agree, that the best SEO's have always been marketers, but there are plenty of people claiming to be SEO's that can't even spell marketing. It's a reasonable theory that as SEO matures, such "SEO's" will be forced out of the market.
