Danny .. nice rundown. Google and Yahoo both have tracking opt out. IE 8 loads toolbar components by default (at least 9). Think there's a place for all of them but really like to way Google approached this
It dialogs like this that go beyond the dialog and provide no value. In my case, they drive me away from Sphinn for a week or two. Tad ... with all due respect, the few times our paths have crossed, your comments have been negative. I truly hope you embrace some of the criticism here instead of 'counter-attacking'. Having armyies of people that will vote for you undermines the entire concept here and in other places ... and you are a moderator at MIXX that suspends people for submitting their own stuff (which I honestly have no problem with and think it's a big reason MIXX refuses to break out). Personal assaults are all over the web. It's really time for this stuff to stop. There's plenty for everyone.
It's getting bigger and it's getting worse. I'm just glad to see Jill here :)
Sphinn remains important and so does moderation in this space. Thanks guys!
Norton is immediately flagging the download as a backdoor trojan.
I can't verify this, but you may want to check it?!
Rarely happens here.
Using Norton Anti-Virus Corporate Edition on Windows XP SP2 on box where it happened
Barry - Just noticed it for the first time in some of 'my spaces'. Regardless, think they're copping valuable seo real estate with this. Maybe a second run and someone will notice :) ??
Thanks!
Story: SEO/SEM Job Market Growing?
@Kalena Totally agree. I think in-house might be down, but independents are easily picking up accounts right now. There's a big world of people / companies that have just been doing PPC and haven't been doing SEO and now want to save on their keyword spend. I'm also seeing a very big jump in one time consulting among small companies.

Rob - Sounds really promising. Think everyone should read @Michelle above. One of the most encouraging posts I've seen in a long time (paragraph 1).
I was just going to Sphinn this (happy to see it here already) ... because Tamar is one of those that not only keeps a positive attitude, but works, works, works, flies and flies more (and maybe parties just a little). You've just got to respect that. I don't think I've ever seen her complain anywhere?! Good recap of SMX too :)
These Pennsylvania people. They just keep going and going and going .....
and surely you're right and I can fix it ... busy night charlie :)
Unfortunately, the edit doesn't allow me to change it but the direct story can be found right here:
Thanks Michelle. You're doing an awesome job with Sphinn (not an easy task :). Keep up the cool stuff!
Jeff's the genuine article. Up-front and responsive. Good Sphinn Maki!
Danny - Just noticed this and re-sphunn. Good to see you this engaged. Sphinn could have Sphunn out of control, and maybe was beginning to a little?. My take would be to add to sphinners from 'the about to be' deleted sphinn. The same piece IS the same piece? Regardless of who Sphunn it. Anyway, hope you're having some Sfun doing this. It can't be easy.
This isn't really a fight. It's a new reality. I listened to the Danny / Jeremy podcast last week. Danny was very calm admitting "I'm not a debater". IF we want to be really nice above all of this, we need to recognize with the rise of social networks, (Yes, including Sphinn), there's a distinct difference between SEO, SEM, and Internet Marketing (IM?).
SEO's were partially responsible, in fact, over the past years for 'most' of the revelant results in ending up in the top-10. It was (and is) a changing science and Google's Universal Search is now changing an awful lot in many spaces.
You can market without search. It's a lot better if you do a commination of organic and PPC. If you try and 'game' the search engines, you will lose that space ... for a long time.
Noticed a little of this and blogged 'a small part' yesterday. Great info Danny !
ICANN had their hands full last year. This is long overdue. Nice find Maki
The real issue here is established SEO people (both visible and in0house, or invisible) and the newer social networking crowd, some of whom have 'crossed-over'.
While there are MANY quality 'social bookmarkers', others are selling 'air'. There are certainly a lot of SEO companies (most, newer on the scene) that are ripping people off as well. This destroys the integrity of an entire industry.
I hope we can keep the the dialog alive but keep the energy positive (and not negative!) and realize that there are 'snake oil salespeople' in every business.
As far as the Sphinn moderators, I have to agree with Jill. These people have more than proven their knowledge and professionalism. That was completely out of line.
Twitter is one of three tools that I use to connect often with those that I want to or need to. I have had to re-write my follow and block list three times to eliminate a little 'noise' but overall it's very valuable as a daily tool (if you don't get addicted and live there :). It's all in how, and how often , you use it.
