"I've now come across about 10 or so other April Fools posts since posting this, so I can see why some people are over them :)"
@burgo - exactly. don't take it personally at all :)
Thanks for the mention Melanie :)
I always enjoy talking to Michael.
Hi Dave -
Thanks for submitting this. This is one area that I haven't seen addressed much but can play such a crucial factor on social news sites especially.
@torka - well done :)
On a lot of the smaller sites, it's not as frowned upon. Probably because there is a closer knit community and thus encouragement isn't really looked at as overly suspicious.
@markdykeman - just want to be careful because if it gets too out of hand and really one-sided, people can bury the story because they don't agree with the comments...
For sure Dave. Many companies want to partake in social media to "get in on the conversation" so to speak but tend to forget that...
Hi all -
I made some changes and everything should be all fixed up now - let us know if it isn't...
Thnx
@planetc1 - great to hear :)
@adam - Great feedback. I was trying to keep the list simple and something that should be used as a starting point for tracking what your linkbait pieces. There are so many more metrics that can and should be tracked and RSS/email subs/send this pages/etc are certainly important to measure.
Story: Paid Search For Big Sites
Thanks for Sphinning this John. I enjoyed Shannon's recap too because I wasn't able to attend the webcast due to some scheduling conflicts. Glad you liked it too!
Story: Digg's Top 1000 Users
Good list but there are a lot of users on it that are no longer active. For example, out of the top 20 only about half are still quite active...
This list shows you the 10 users who have gotten the most homepages over the previous 30 days and is kept in real-time (I think it updates automatically hourly).
A pleasant surprise to open Sphinn upcoming to. Thanks for the submit Bill....
Story: Moderator?
"...and where is this moderator list and how come they all seem to be Yanks?"
Right here. And last time I checked Mikkel and Rob aren't "Yanks"...
Story: USA Today GLORIFIES DIGG: Interviews with Chris Winfield, Greg Sterling, Kevin Rose & Seth Godin
Good post. Misleading title. I think it's way beyond "Digg favorites" as you can see....
Hey - thanks for the submit Stoney. Shannon listened to Chris Sherman's excellent Search Marketing Now webcast last week and this is her take on it....
Thanks for the mention and submit Cam.
I've talked to this reporter for many years and it's always been about the paid side of things (that's what 'investors' care about) and different moves by GOOG, YHOO, etc. But then he went on vacation recently and started talking to the dive company he used in South Africa and was amazed that they got all of their business from SEO. So he was fascinated with this and what it means for the search engines' business/revenues/etc. I always like to see SEO get any coverage in the main stream media.
Thanks Tim, I appreciate it..
"If Jason Calacanis Thinks that SMO Is B.S., Why Is Mahalo Gaming Digg?"
Excellent question...
Hi Zachary -
When people violate the submission guidelines, they are dealt with as quickly as possible (as will the case with the submissions you are refferring to. The best thing that the community can do is to keep reporting spam when you see it (thanks!) so that we can deal with it quickly.
