Story: Only SEO Firefox Add-ons
Hay akor.. have tou played around with the old firefox browser FLOCK yet.. pretty good for social media.. not so much for SEO.. at the moment :)
Story: Only SEO Firefox Add-ons
i know.. i'm kind of on the fence with it. The addons in the FOX are so simple and i've been using it for a good 4 years now.
Story: Keywords Without Ego
Brilliant post, really great to read something that inspire thought once in a while. Superb!
Worth a read :)
mpilatow - I think your talking about 'mozilla' not 'firefox. If firefox really was a 'google clone' why would it be blocking tracking and allowing its users to block adverts?
Just a thought
"These programmers are not for sale: The Mozilla Foundation and its for-profit subsidiary, Mozilla Corp., love Google. And Google loves Mozilla so much it provided the organization with $67 million in revenue in 2006 - 85 percent of total revenues.
But all that money and affection haven't kept Mozilla's programmers, many of whom are volunteers, from writing code for Mozilla's popular FireFox browser that blocks Internet ads, or, in the latest version of the browser, lets people keep their search histories out of Google's giant data base.
Firefox 3, which is currently released for developer testing, features a much smarter location bar (the place on the browser where you enter URLS). Like Google's personalized search service, it tracks where you go on the Internet so that you can find things again easily. Unlike Google, it doesn't share this information with anyone, much less a giant, billion-dollar corporation. It keeps it private, on your machine.
Will Google mind? Firefox developers didn't ask for permission, and they don't intend to beg forgiveness, even though Google's contract with Firefox expires in November 2008."
PS: any conspiracies about FLOCK? it forced me to use YAHOO.. recon Jerry Yang is in my PC?:)
this is a nice function from reddit, not that i'm a user of the site... but it think more exposure to new posts is a good thing. I disagree with ysilver that it is messy.. it is no more messy than hot topics etc.
Many thanks
Story: Hilary Duff Topless Pic
I have to admit i had a similar experience with a "topless hilary" email header. (luckily i'm rather partial to older women). :)
Its a tough one, i mean on one hand you don't want hate sites to receive any kind of extra exposure, but on the other hand... if Google BOMBS these, where does it stop. Anyone talking about China's issues in favour of Tibet?
It is a very good post and one that does not have a simple answer too
Some great comments, all of which we are advising clients "whew", most of which they arent doing.. Grrrr...
500 error page was one that had slipped through the net, thanks Ian..
Some fantastic tips Loren, i'll be putting these into practice this week.
Cheers claire
Story: Tips to StumbleUpon Success
Hi Bill, I'm now going to dust off my SU account and have some fun. It was a great post and gave me the stumbling kick that i needed. Cheers
Hi everyone, I'm claire and i'm a Pagewankerholic. It's taken some time but i think i've finally kicked it, it's been 18 months since my last pagewank.
Thanks for listening X
Your right g1smd, thanks for pointing it out and for taking the time to read my post :)
Hi Superking, well i was never a dedicated follower of fashion, thus the mohawk I sported in 2006. Thanks for the comment, but i think i'll keep writing the old metas as i still think people need to understand what they are getting from the SERPs, i know i do. :)
I didnt think about that g1smd, thats a really good point actually, i know a few of my clients have done exactly that on their sites. Thanks again :)
I found this increadibly thought provoking. Being British i have a real thing for the underdog and i'm the first to admit that some new innovative blood taking on the mighty Google would be refreshing. I am skeptical, its more of a pipe dream at this point with all the fingers in proverbile pies the big G has, it would take quite a few corporate hevies that werent afraid of loosing to make this happen.
I did however like the "new way of searching" idea. Human beings are made to develop and learn and visual search or intelligent search (with out restrictions) could well win over the masses. I for one have my firefox set up to tell me all i want tp know from a techical perspective as soon as i land on a site.
I remember seeing an article on a search (i think it was on Hilary Clinton) that delivered everything in an easy to read format, blog, images, video, reviews, forums, websites etc and i thought, yes this is what i like. People are different, but i think if a newcomer can deliver EASE to searching ahead of Google, then they might well win over?.. perhaps..
Good post :)
This post was superb and actually gave me the idea for the layout of my meta tag post, it was extreamly easy to understand and made the point in a concise, practical way. Great post Si :)
Story: 20 Hard Core SEO Tips
Some great ideas in this post and most of them i agree with. The issue is, that this is BEST CASE, and if your dealing with SME's who have very small budgets and their developers get them to pay through the nose for any tweaks to the site - it just isnt practical.
However, some of these i can feed back to my clients, but most i feel are for the larger conglomorates.
:)
I hate to admit it, but i made a snorting laugh noise to this. A few went over my head, but not enough to stop me looking insane infront of the office.
Thanks Matt
