Very interesting post Jeff. Kim's right, that video was enlightening.
P.S. Anybody who reads this should be sure to read the comments, and keep in mind the part of the post that mentions the frustration of the masses for not having the "conch shell". There's a lot of bitterness toward those power-users!
I found this very interesting. One of the more fascinating posts about SEO that I've read lately.
Connections with Adsense, and BOQPod are my favorites. A good list from Maki, no doubt.
This was a great post. I have never visited that site before; thanks Maki.
Hey Andrew.
We haven't met, but, Chris is right, those are good points.
This was a great article, and it will be saved for reference; not just for the asking, but for the answering as well. ;-)
Kimota, we just talked about new bloggers stickin' together, so here ya go. S-P-P-P-PHUNN!!!!
There's a good comment on this post about how CNN's story stays in the same place, while the Digg story moves around. I also think that there are separte mentalities associated with links from both sites. Many a Digg user will only read enough to post a text related comment. For shame. (on me as well. 8-P)
Story: Facebook IS no more...
I wonder how this will affect the Twitter integration. Will it now say _Dav: Twittering_ , instead of _Dav "is" Twittering_
Why do I care?
sorry for the trashy comment guys.
Story: Why Your Website Copy Sucks!
Hey, this was a good article. It's true that some entrepreneurs out there need to re-examine their strengths/passions. I mean, it's possible for anyone to learn good writing, if you definition of it includes the words "effective" and not "passionate", or "inspired". The problem is that the whole blogging phenomenon has normal, logical people out there thinking that writing is their "passion", when maybe it's a flair for marketing, or a great attitude that is their biggest strength.
Anyway, I hope this one goes big on here.
A great submission, and a flagship post for a network like sphinn, IMO. What better list can you get regarding a user driven, social network GEARED towards internet marketing, then a list of esteemed and established meta-bloggers and SEO'S that belong to the site.
Needless to say, I have some new stalkees. Thanks Gab.
I would think that every website's "end-goal" should be to arrive at a standing with as many customers as the standing that Google has achieved with me. I don't link to Google through a list of favorites, and obviously not through a search.
It's one of very few "type-ins" that are just programmed in. google.com, google.com, google.com
Every time, that's how I get there.
The only reasons I can fathom why they haven't dropped the www, is that either they think it looks better, or they're feeding their ego as an ambassador of the whole world wide web itself.
Which they pretty much are. ;-)
That's a really good graph. I don't know much about graphs, and for some reason they confuse me, but I know hard work and professionalism when I see it!
Yeah, this is a really good good list. Balls to anybody who isn't satisfied with a top 100. It's Germany for Chrissake.
This was a good article. However, most of these points, were pretty obvious. A good article, well written and informative nonetheless.
I really look forward to the second installment about why you shouldn't use adsense, and I hope you post it Maki.
I really like this post Maki, thank you for posting it. In todays world, it is difficult to understand the true value of a good network, and even harder to understand what it takes to build one.
I just started sphinning, and learning the trade, and all of those things were evident right away. :-)
This was a great wake up call. I get really tired of the dog eat dog moderation of social media networks, and info-blogs.
This is a good compilation. Creative titling, and good introduction. I'm going to read them now.
Perhaps google will acknowledge popular enough subdomains like a blogspot blog, or flickr account. If this is to be a general rule, then the possibility of the enforcers making exceptions where deserved should not be overlooked.
JohnWeb I read your comment with great sympathy. I too worry about good subdomain blogs being tarnished by their spam-ridden siblings.
However, if there is an upside to a negative view on a subdomain of the nature you reference, then it would be the incentive to move on to a "custom" domain.
I say, give blogspot and wordpress.com to the spammers, and hope to see the quality info take some authority.
Interesting ideas. I have thought about using twitter to tell a bizarre story. Give each character a different account and if it's possible, link to the other characters accounts contextually.
Interesting article. The way it is written led me to become a tad confused, but very useful and enlightening information nontheless. Thank you.
Thanks Maki. That post was splendiferous! Anyways, now that I've gotten my random word vomit out of the way I'd like to agree with the importance of stream-of-consciousness writing. I think a great thing that anybody (even non-writers) can do is just write. Even if the only thing that comes to mind is "i do not know what to write". It's all ideas! P.S. Something else that I'm trying is that tape-recorder deal.
Story: The Seven Best Blogs: Period
Not sure if these are in any numerical order, but was glad to see DoshDosh at the top of the list! I'm somewhat of a fanboy to that blog, as it was really the first light in the dark for me. Oh, btw, I'm new here and an aspiring blogger, so hey guys!
