Anyone up for wagering if random vehicle photos will eventually show up in the SERPs for model searches?  Based on geographical location. Wagers?

Just as a side note if your try to visit the site listed in the news article with Firefox you get a nice big Website Forgery message :)

Meta tags are very useful especially the description, and author tags.  I've had people track me down over the author tags :)  And with the description tag you can easily set the content the user sees below your title on a SERP :)

If Sphinn gave us our Name, then Website beside each comment I'd be down.  Most of the time I just click through and comment to get some link juice. :)

How about an SMX in Vancouver, BC :)  Some of us little fish hiding in our bosses shadows could come out and play :)

Well its not doing any clicks thats the exact issue.  Its increasing your pageviews, without clicking.  Next weekend I'll probably just write an adsense PHP Object / Class that cloaks the ads from the Live network.

In my eyes PR is still very important, but only as a health indicator of a site.  Personally when it comes to Link Building the only thing I am interested in is has Google cached this page.  But then again I already have a descent PR, I'm just looking for more specific Anchor Phrases.

Agreed.  Another even simpler thing would be to put the content under the flash movie.  Then it wouldn't be cloaking.

Sitting at #1 for SEO Services on Google we get a lot of traffic from new clients. I'd wager around 40% of all the new clients that contact us have had bad experiences with past SEO firms!

Content will always be king, because communities are for the intelligent. Anyone here with enough experience dealing with people will tell you the average computer user is borderline handicapped. Just look at some of the strange long tail SERPs that land on your website and you'll see why :)

And on top of it there system is broken. I just tried adding my Photography BLOG Feed, and errored saying there were no posts in the feed. Meanwhile there are 10 posts, and W3 Validates it as being a valid feed. I guess they have a bit of work to do before they can get rid of the Beta in their logo :)

I've seen Automated SEO services, and to call them effective is a joke. The biggest issues I saw were:

1) These robots are only as smart as there programmers and what they know about SEO.

2) Given the complexity of the English Language (or any language for that matter) these robots get confused and may choose words that may appear related, but are in fact very different.

3) Your website ultimately caters to humans, although it needs to be built for the engines. When you discount the end visitor they simply won't convert.

And I agree with Debram about what a waste of Diet Coke, although I'm drinking a no name Canadian brand with Splenda instead of my daily intake of Aspartame.

"Why waste traffic when you can help someone get more."

I think to a large degree this Article states what we believe at Beanstalk Search Engine Positioning, that most SEOs definitely over charge for their services. According to Rands chart we charge a Low to Mid end rate, and we guarantee our services. We however prefer the Campaign model.
