Lol, I just had a flashback to when I had my first Sphinn submission and was beat to the punch by Andy Beard yet both posts made it through.
I still vividly remember the first, and only, time I had a post hit the front page of digg and came back from an afternoon meeting to learn my account had been suspended due to a spike in CPU usage. Luckily, as soon as I contacted my host and mentioned digg they had me back up and running.
This post brought back quite a few of those memories, lol.
I've yet to really get into PPC advertising for anything but have been thinking about a few things where something like this could come in handy. It is great to hear your review of the value that Mary and her partners offer.
This has been a great discussion and there have been many quality points made on both sides.
The way that I have approached Sphinn is to browse through the What's New pages and follow through what I find to be interesting. Just like with blog posts, much of that depends on whether or not the title of the Sphinn is "catchy" or interesting.
Because I don't have an endless amount of time to spend on here and miss quite a few stories on the What's New page, I appreciate when a fellow Sphinner drops me a note if there is something that caught their eye.
In the short time I have been on Sphinn, I've submitted three stories and have contacted a few people myself. Being new I wouldn't say that I am part of any cosy club because I don't really know many of you yet. My first Sphinn ended up being a duplicate submission with Andy Beard submitting the same post just minutes before me. The more recent two Sphinns, I have dropped a note to people that Sphunn similar stories to simply mention that they might also be interested in this post.
It is all fascinating to me and I have learned a lot just through this discussion. Thanks everyone!

I'd like to see the email notification of participating threads as robwatts mentioned but also an email notifiication of a new inbox message.
Not necessarily an email notification but something that alerts you to a new person stalking you - maybe that is there and I just haven't been stalked, lol.
Can you tell that I like to be notified of new things?

These are a few great tips that are easy to implement but can go a long way in making your clients feel that they are receiving value in return.
Very nice suggestion and an easy way to make your site a little more reader friendly. I've updated my blog as a result.
I do think that the social bookmarks can cascade as you found Tim's fantastic post because Andy linked to it and now I found Andy's post and subsequently Tim's post because you linked to it here on Sphinn.
Thanks for the heads up, I guess I took too long making sure I spelled Marty's last name correctly.
I apologize to everyone for the oversight on my part.
You beat me to the punch by a couple of minutes, I apologize to everyone for the duplicate.

Lol, I do have to agree with the idea that there is something about Lyndon's avatar that instills fear if you don't click.
But in my time at Sphinn, I've yet to see something that Lyndon Sphunn that was not of great quality.
I'd like to think that I fall into both categories as a user and contributor, although recently I would have to say it has been more as a user.
Usually that is dictated by the amount of time that I have. If I'm short on time, I'll stop by and go through the Hot/New categories to see what catches my eye.
The other thing that I have noticed is that many of the articles that I have tried to add have already been Sphunn by someone else so I just add my vote. You guys are too quick, or am I just too slow? Lol.
That is a great list of plugins to help prevent the content thieves from stealing.
This is a great interview by Darren and I cannot wait for the 2nd installment.
Very nice list of stumblers there. I'm planning on learning a few tips and suggestions on SU so I can be on that list as well.
That title is great as it certainly caught my attention. Very nice article.
Nice list! Like the others, I also laughed at the Mahalo comment and really liked the two about the chore list. Unfortunately my wife wouldn't understand the supplemental index and then she would probably punch me.
