This happened to me LAST WEEK!!! Not sure how, or why, just yet. But, it really, really pissed me off. My monitor did not suffer a beating though.
Here's ths situation. I live in a small Idaho town, less than 50K people. I had a client that wanted a few domains purchased. We'll say for shoes (instead of giving out the real KW/target).
Anyways, I searched for shoes in Idahoshoes, pocatelloshoes, shoesinpocatello, etc... I spoke with my client a day after and he decided he wanted all the domains I quoted since they were all available. Then, two days later, ALL THREE were purchased. By a company in China! WTF??? Let me say W T F again? In China? I really doubt they have anything to do with shoes in Idaho, let alone a small town in Idaho.
Just sharing my experience. This happened to me before with Disc Golf a few months back, but not this obvious. Thank you for the article and heads up, hopefully this will stop, or help.
Good weekend to all!

Great article, nice read. I coudn't disagree more though... with your two points about removing the KWs out of the title and sometimes the URL. As said above, this can be done without stuffing. SUCH a big help when you've taken the time to write a page about a specific topic, optimized, and it gets to the top of the SERPs.
While at the same time, someone else creates a page, optimizes and gets their page to the top. Who's page do you think they'll click on first, the one with the KWs (what they were searching for) in the title.
Nice post.
let them say what they feel necessary, more clients for all of us who have been very happy with the way SEO has pushed our sites to the number one pos!
Do you really care what this guy says?
Didn't think so.
outstanding article. both for experienced and newbeys... much appreciated
I really enjoy Sphinn... I'm not a "big time" chatter, and definitely do not publish articles on SEO. I've been going to Danny's conferences since 98 in the Bay Area and found something I really enjoy, SEO. Something I'm good at, something that is fun and changing. I'm guessing all that have entered Sphinn have their own background and reasons... but I do believe we all come here because we enjoy our work and enjoy networking and chat'n with each other.
I pop in the various chat's such as webmasterradio (my fav) to say hi to some new friends I've found via the SEO chat sites and other forums. I see other's who are doing the same. Whether Sphinn is thought to be a "popularity contest" (sadly mistaken), its a great place to bring us all together and rant and rave...
Really do enjoy your new project Danny, nothing but the best in 2007!
I used to hammer the wiki with links to our various domains. All of them being relevant, not spam. They've been able to remain in Wiki to date and even though the dreaded "no follow" tag is there, we get tons of referrals, almost always from the "external links" section. One domain, for example, received 400+ visits from a wiki page in a month, out of 4200 visits. It's a small site, but thats a great percentage of visitors from wiki.
Great weekend to all!
