No no no, its all about trusting sites. That is inherantly what this is all about. Basically Google are wanting us to do their job for them as they are realising that using links as a hefty part of their ranking factors is just not sustainable. Basically Google want to have their cake and eat it and we are all expected to fall in line!!!
Hey guys.
I thought Pingomatic took care of pings for you. Should I be adding more to my list of sites to ping in WP?
Cheers,
Al
Story: NoFollow: An SEO Red Flag?
No its not a red flag. Google want you to use no follow becuase it makes their life easier. Less links to think about, focus on teh do-follows. If anything I would say no-follow sites enjoy higher rankings than do-follows. The way I view it is, use no-follow for crap sites and use do-follow for good sites. Up to you to decide whats good and whats crap.
NSM panties as the yanks would say. I like that idea! I'd like to see some Google or Yahoo Panties, I'd definatly buy my girlfriend some!! Surelly thats an SEO's wet dream !!
Nice one Shaun, good interview. Link bait is king. I hate building links.
Good old Moylsie. Not many of the US SEO's here will probably have heard of him, but I wonder if they will get his sense of Irony :) Kidding.
I love slightly shaddy SEO's admissions :) He's more like totally dodgeySEO - In a good way.
Yep,
Good post. Evocative of the steps you take as you progress your career. Do Follow links available to all good contributers.
Al
Just to let you all know that I will be updateing this post again very-soon as it was actually a bit premature in going live (nudge nudge) and I haven't added the names of a few other personalities who I feel deserve the mention.
FYI - also in the updated post I will be including outward links. Please be forthcoming with any other suggestions as I would like to make this a good resource. I might even include my self 0_o Depends if I get nominated I guess ;)
Cheers
Al
Big scoop!!! I just wrote a post on this too...
Microsoft to Buy Yahoo?

Story: SES London 2008
LondonSEO party sounds cool. I'll have to add my name to the list. Dave Fairhurst, you up for it. Link again...

I wrote a post about how crap this show was, and how I wish Danny Sullivan has really opened up a can of WhoppAss on Shoemoney. Available here. Its a bit of a giggle.
Cheers.
Allan
I personally didn't think the show was that great. Shoemoney didn't say anything of much substance. Danny made some good points but was a bit soft on his opposition. Probably becuase he knew that Shoe was just link sounding off a load of bull.
Well I for one didn't think it was all that great. I wrote a post about how they balley danced around each other in their pink boxing gloves Lol
The US economy. Its a tough call. I was talking to the guys over on webmasterworld and webmaster radio about it all and there are definaly some nervous SEO / affiliate guys out there. I wish I was more of an economic guru so that I could say something authorative but I am just more concerned than anything.
I don't see whats wrong with dropping a link to a post which you feel is important. Its the first time I have ever droped a link in this way in over 50 posts and I get totally slammed and also banned off one forum. Seems totally harsh. I took some time to write that article and I see people dropping links all over the place. I thought that was the whole Idea of forums and places like this. I did put it in context and try and make it constructive.
Anyway, won't be doing that again. Maybe I should make my next post called "Touchy touchy search engine forums". I mean its not like I am link staking viagra tablets or anything.
Apologise for the poor grammer and bad spelling in my original comment by the way. I really should use that spell checker more. Seems like Twitter and its application as a useful tool might be something which will be debated for some time.
All publicity is good publicity right. I totally understand why Barry Schwartz wrote about this issue in the way that he did. From my point of view I can't see that anything bad came of it all.
1) It generated publicity for both companies (I know will be using howto.wired for legitamate reasons when I never before knew it existed)
2) Its closed a SPAMers loophole which was previously undetected.
If SE Land were malicious in intent they could quite easily have pasted articles peppered with affiliate links through them, perhaps with dodgey re-directs to PRON or whatever they wanted really.
All said and done, I think this is a storm in a T cup and in the end there are no lossers.
Suggest you all CHILAX a little it aint no big thing.
Tut tut, Matt Cutts getting in to trouble. Well there you go, a chink in the Google armour. Fair play though if you ask me. :)
