thats not spam at all unless you think dave isn't relevant for his own domain name.
how you use the tools before you is up to you, most people use a hammer to build houses, but some will use it to break windows. But we don't go calling black & decker or stanley criminals because some uses their tools inaapropriately.
So if blogher is having men as speakers are they hiding it and not listing them on the speaker list. One i might believe was a alst minute substitution, two becomes a lot less believeable.
I don't think I or Lisa ever claimed to not be friends. However just because she is my friend doesn't mean that I expect her to agree with everything that comes out of my mouth or winds up on my blog. She's a smart and articulate person with a mind of her own if she's disagrees with thats fine. I actually think your real friends are the one who will call you out when they feel you make a mistake.
if you're making a vieled acusation that this was all a big set up or pre-aganged, I'll shoot that down right out of the bat as not being true. In fact my post criticizing blogher was written last week, and I twittered that last week (if twitter wasnt all fail whale I'd link to it).
Feel free to desphinn as you see fit, no problem with it really.
if women get to speak on panels and men dont how is that not being treated as a second class citizen @lisabarone? (replying to desphinn comment which is wierd)
I've had only minor problems with 2.6 but I have to say I really wish wordpress would update far less frequently and proivide support longer. Version 2.5 came out in March and here we are 4 months later with another huge update
the layout is broken in firefox 2 (cause 3 is too buggy to use) butI dont think that's enough of a reason to desphin.
OK I edited the title so it didn't look like the others already in the system. I will confess to letting out a mental sigh when I first saw the title thinking it was another duplicate or me too submission
Wow I think you need to go after "fuzzy pink sock pupets in los angeles" next time you dry and debunk something
so are any of you actually subscribed to his email list? While not all of them have been great the one today is beyond stellar. It was thought provoking and informative. I'd even go as far as to say it was better than 90% of the "99 Reasons Why Twitter and Social Media Go together Like Peanut Butter and jelly" type of articles that get submitted here. But if you all would rather
vote for yourselves in a self congratulatory way instead of reading an email where you might actually learn something, so be it ... desphinn away.
the answer to the question is definitely maybe ...
and is these kind of non answers that drive me crazy ... sigh
how much are they giving away on each person for food ...
a troublemaker might point out they fund things to keep single people focused and at work and not family people for whom google might not be the center of their life ...
watch the pretty girl while I pull a rabbit out of my hat ... bit of distraction eh
ok with no narrative or static screen shots I had a really hard time following that, it took more than one viewing to get what you were trying to show me.
>Google is not going beyond its reach
sorry gonna disagree, google's job is to organize the worlds information, not dictate how, where, when and why it gets published. More structure is never a good thing if you want a creative environment. More structure = trying to make people and things into replaceable cogs.
@stymiee that work because right now you are playing by their rules. What happens when they change rules and you are on the other side ... wonder how you will feel about google absolute power with a lack of restraint then ...
history has proven absolute power corrupts absolutely ...

I think we can say he has been proven wrong
Major companies Like Ford and Chevrolet destroy hundreds of cars each year by smashing them into each other or concrete walls. They don't do it to be irresponsible and reckless, in fact quite the opposite, they do it to see how their cars perform under extreme conditions, and learn where the weaknesses are, and how to make them stronger.
Don't you think that by crashing and burning a few non branded, non connected sites you might learn something too? As long as you aren't hurting anyone there's nothing ethically wrong with testing google's algo and seeing if what they are saying is true or not, and if it really works the way they tell you it does.
You don't crash cars or websites with your customers in them, but you will learn something crashing cars with test dummies and websites with sock puppets, as long as you do it in isolation of your company and brand.
Anyone who is afraid of experimentation, and R&D will always be on the trailing edge and not the leading one ...
the whole "title name - page name" thing is tricky big household name brands can get away with that, everyone else should reverse it , IMHO.
oh and if you have to ask if you are big enough to do it you probably aren't.
don't know that I agree with the article, but well thought out and well written, gets a sphinn.
ok three registrations screens to sign up to make a comments, wow way to make things difficult
well they also fixed [dangerous cult] but [cult dangerous] shows another example of something that looks an awful lot like a hand edit. So it's just a growing amount circumstantial evidence that Google's trying to keep out of "trouble" with the scientology crowd.
>I always feel obligated to test their pages.
Thats kind of like looking at a mad scientists lab to see if they are using best practices and following OSHA rules ;-)
I know he's commented on the issue but paraphrasing his response.
I've spent 20 years "paying it forward" so I could market my products for $0. For the people who say these sites wouldn't get the same attention if Guy wasn't involved I say you have firm grasp of the painfully obvious.
not a direct quote but you get the gist any misquotes are my bad memory.
Wow doesn't look the slightest bit like a coordinated attack against Brent at all ... nope not one bit ...
Really c'mon now you submit a bit of hate bait to sphinn hoping a bunch of people will link to it to get this page to rank for his name. Oh and look this page links to your page where you have the exact anchor text of a contest where you are trying to improve your rankings. Wow that doesn't look even the tiniest bit ... funny ... or odd ...
Do you really think we just fell off the turnip truck and haven't seen these tactics already?
@neilY those companies donated cash, goods or services, and as a result of that donation they got a link. That link implementation doesn't fall within google guidelines, you cant have a system where you enforce the rules selectively, no matter how good the cause is.
The rules is the rules
@iBrian no problem I understand it's not everyone's thing.
IMHO though everyone needs to be aware of how google's policies are not only bizzare and harmful to the internet as whole, but serve Google's needs and not everyone elses. The fact that google doesnt apply justice in an even and consistent manner is again IMHO the acts like an unlimited sovereign.
