I'll join that pledge, I won't buy a ticket to another Calaconference either.
Maybe they'll fix the code that's tossing their descriptions in the SERPs too

Story: Get A Free Link From Wired
Wired totally screwed the pooch with that CMS they're using... look at these SERPs:

I think a lot of this is in poor taste, especially some remarks above from one notably biased commenter. Just my $0.02.
Congrats to Rand, and a big thank you to Barry, Danny, Aaron and all the other bloggers (nominated or not) who fill up the first 2 hours of my day with industry goodness!
This is a republished article taken from any number of article submission sites

These are good guidelines, but I still hunt down names with type-in traffic whenever possible.
Oh absolutely. Just posted a response to a commenter... reviews are essential to local search, but using what we know about Live.com's ranking formula will be even more valuable once Windows live Mobile starts using GPS to define the home point of a search.
Wow twitter was buzzing about that photo yesterday... worth the wait! haha
Nice post too, even if it is a lousy situation to be in.
I stopped google from using my DMOZ description (and yahoo from using my Yahoo Directory description) a long time ago because making DMOZ updates takes too damn long.
If anyone finds other queries that trigger this, please let me know and I'll update the post
Well search engine roundtable covered something similar today, but the queries were all holiday related (Hannukah, Kwanzaa, etc)... why the hell is playstation triggering it? And if they're trying to use popular holiday gifts to trigger this... why playstation?
Yeah I know they've blocked plenty of other social sites. Internet censorship is going to cut this planet into little sectioned-off pieces (moreso than it already is).
Story: Ignore your PageRank
Yeah as Google continues to wage war on selling links, this metric they invented will (hopefully) fade into obscurity.
Story: SEO. Science or Art?
Interesting that marketing grads hold a Bachelors of Science degree :)
Interesting for functionality, but I suppose the question is whether or not it will improve the accuracy of whole-country geotargeting.
You point is the last thing most link buyers want to hear, and it no less true because of it. Nice post
I caught this in my feed reader before I saw it here, made me laugh -- nice one.
I have a metaphor I use to describe SMM too, but it's nothing I'd want to say in front of a lady -- haha!
Well first of all, you don't have a landing page.
You need to create something, not just send clicks to Amazon or republish a free article that is probably already indexed on 100 other sites. And a good QS does not necessarily equal low CPCs.
I think as valueable as the methods and tactics described in this post are, the potential they have to expand your thinking and inspire new ideas is twice as valuable. Nice post.
