Danny - Fan pages have been getting crawled from the start, but I think groups are new to the list. But either way, my take home message is the same! :)
Story: Facebook tightens up privacy
Sorry for the confusion... She had the name first I guess, though we have been running for 13 years without too many confusion issues, ha ha :)
I gave TW a Tamar umbrella at SMX Social in NYC, she tried to persuade me to give her tamar.com!
A good piece, though it focuses mainly on News Aggregators and Bookmarking sites - Social Media marketing is a far bigger fish to fry than just those two...
Tell that to the inhabitants of the town in Devon which surrounds the river Tamar... or the crew of the HMS Tamar from the Royal Navy... heck, the whole of the UK pronounces it "Wrong" :D
I will be updating this over Christmas too - I hope all the Sphinners will be reading! :)
Merry Christmas!
UPDATE : I should clarify that the Facebook numbers are for "active users", so as somebody rightly pointed out, the dip in US users could be down to recent Thanksgiving lulls online...
The answers, if anyone is interested!

Great post, though the insinuation that Facebook could ever become anywhere near as ad-cluttered as MySpace is ker-azy. On any one Facebook page I never see more than 2 ads max. On MySpace, I get a homepage covered in ads, an interstitial ad once I've logged in, dozens of adds all over my profile and SO. MUCH. SPAM!
UPDATE: All the iLike-generated Fan pages for music seem to have been taken down again, perhaps iLike weren't quite aware of the merger of their information in to Facebook's new pages?
I haven't even read this yet but I am Sphinning it purely from the extract, ha ha. Can't wait to read it!
I could be wrong, but I've never actually seen anywhere in Facebook's developer community where they encourage people to "only develop for Facebook" - lots of Facebook's most popular applications work as stand-alones as well as Facebook apps. Good story though.
