I completely agree here. Accessibility and Usability are not mentioned enough in the SEO community. I went on a little rant about it a few months ago in my Blogging Manifesto
It's about time somebody came out and just said it this way... We all know it, just nobody is willing to say it that way.
This is one of the first posts I've seen on optimizing videos for web and really looking at the big picture of analytics and SEO. Great stuff!
Poor and spam industry lead the way... why not see if we can take some advice from these guys? I mean they do have it tougher than anyone else... it's obvious spam, so how do you still get people to click.
This is awesome advice for dealing with a small business and a limited budget.
Story: Must Read WordPress SEO
I haven't even read it yet, but I'm sure it's going to be awesome!
Thanks for the share. Always good when Matt clarifies something. I think the most important thing to note is still. “Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines”
Potentially could mean people wanting to index more of there site SHOULD use the Google Site Search. They have us by our ballz!
Nice detailed description. Your best to really only use Time for trend tracking.
Yeah this is evil because the reasons mentioned are mainly to steal bandwidth and copyright infrigement.
One way I've explored hotlinking is if you have a website that speed is of the absolute essence then offloading your images to an Amazon S3 account or something to speed up load times. Of course the same could be done for CSS and JS files. In a far fetched way that scenario is beneficial to SEO because search engines do look at load time as a factor in their algorithm.
But just to be honest, if your that serious about optimizing for bandwidth then you should be fully optimizing web graphics as I mentioned in this post I wrote a while back, Why and How to Optimize Graphics for the Web.
Really good list, thanks for sharing. They are all really important but #7 really stands out "Failing to periodically review keywords". This is so important because by doing this it allows you to be on top of the rest of the mistakes.
Story: SEO Guide for Designers
Excellent post and something to save for the next time I deal with a designer whom there might be a chance they don't understand SEO.
Nothing new here, but this is still a great find as it's always good to have as many articles like this to put in front of businesses for reasons to start a blog. Thanks for sharing.
"In the end of the day, in internet retail, all roads seem to lead to the same place. Concentrate on your brand and everything from SEO to customer loyalty falls neatly into place."
I love that closing remark. It's 100% true.
I totally agree. Web Analytics Demystified is one of the best Web Analytics blogs so getting the scope about this from a recognized industry expert has a little more weight than just reading the news.
I don't know how he does it, but absolutely nobody writes better posts than Avinash. Here is another classic.
This is actually a really comprehensive review of Mixx. Nothing really new for someone who is on the network already, but if it's something that you are looking into but just aren't sure, then this is definitely the article to read. Nice job.
Story: 7 Brand Name Social Networks
Content is KING... Create it and they will come... the other stuff helps, but it's got to be good content first.
Wow, this looks like a really nice and easy to use tool! Thanks Aaron!
Story: SEO Rap 2 - Design Coding
Having traffic for the sake of having traffic is worthless and I think the article does a good point in addressing that. If you just care about traffic to have it then go get an autosurfer. I think what is beginning to happen and is an issue as of late is people that vote for content on a social site, but never actually visit the page of the post much less absorb the content.
As people begin to get more and more involved in Social Media and the stakes continue to rise this is an issue that has to be addressed one way or another.
Not a really revolutionary idea, but definitely a great write-up explaining the process.
Color palatees are a very important part of branding and marketing. Something that is easy to forget so it's nice to see a really well layed out and written one like this every now and then.
