Its too easy to fake results of effective and successful SEO methods. My inbox is full of 'amazing' offers from leading internet guru's about super-duper secret ways to a) get more traffic b) get higher rankings c) build huge lists... and it goes on and on.

The disturbing thing is that each will usually feature testimonials, images of google traffic reports, website logs and the like sounding really genuine and true - it boggles the mind and confuses newbies and people who dont understand.

I know that if I made potentially false claims about goods or services in a traditional market I would be sued/arrested or be reported to the bbb.

Hi, I new to all this but... has the question not been answered somewhat by some of the other domains that are available at the moment.

I remember all the fuss about .cc when it came out and the rush to buy them. The same happened with a few others like .to and .tv.

I'm not an authority on this type of thing, but is the .com culture too ingrained in the minds of the average internet user to change now and will it not lead to greater confusion as to where to go to get what you want? At the moment the choice is in real terms fairly limited i.e. .com, .net, .org and country domains like .co.uk, .de, .ie etc - not .us as much though.

Anyway - thats my two cents worth. Hope I havent offended anybody!

If I had a dollar for every 'expert' peice of advice I had, and another dollar for every other peice of 'expert' advice which contradicts the first I would retire.

As ogletree said " This list is really just a cheat sheet for a professional SEO. Somebody who is not experienced would not know what to do with several of the points without further explanation. SEO is not just a checklist. There are many factors that are dynamic. There is no such thing as a perfect URL. There are pros and cons for each method. You have to understand those to make that decision. " This is very true.

While the broad general SEO needs of websites are generally the same... there can never be a hard and fast rule about what is Right and Wrong (within a white hat SEO environment). It is constantly changing and optimizing your site with different SEO methods based on ongoing developments is necessary if you want to stay in the race - let alone win.

I am not an inventor, like lots of other people I scavange whats available, what other people do. I learn from their success and failure. Thats the way the web works, for now!
