Great timing for this post - I was just going over the importance of getting into the customers' minds with a coworker earlier today. It's too easy to look at KW tools and think we know what people are searching for - that's not always the case. These are some great suggestions for unearthing the words that are actually used to search for a client's products/services.
Taylor hit the nail on the head with this one. With plenty of articles about the demise of the SEO/SEM industry, it's refreshing to hear a reasoned and heart-felt view of what it can be, if we all just grow up.
If you want your feel-good quota for the day, give this a read!
I've always enjoyed getting the differing viewpoints that are offered by Loren, Ann, Danny, Rand, etc. This post is just another good example of the value in following multiple sources of information for the same topics.
Keep up the good work!
This story makes me feel all warm and fuzzy - and it makes me wish I had some brownies! It's amazing what you can accomplish when you're being nice just for the sake of being nice. When you attach any kind of alterior motives to being nice, suddenly you accomplish nothing.
Thanks for the heads up on this post!
Story: Google Dance Is Back?
This *may* explain a discrepancy I noticed this morning.
After downloading SEObook's new rank checking tool and taking it for a spin (which, by the way, has a very user friendly and simple UI) I noticed that the results for MSN Live and Yahoo were the same as a report I ran through Web Position 4, but the Google rank in the new SEObook tool was consistently 5 positions lower. Maybe they were getting data from different data centers? May just be a coincidence. I haven't really looked into it yet.
Thanks for the heads up on the potential Google dance.
Jim
This tool seems like it has a lot of promise. But what happens if your followers find out your tweets are being automatically generated - will they be less likely to pay any attention to them?
Great post - thanks!
Jim
