Yeah I was only joking about Doug Heil joining SEOMoz. I did feel like I was listening to Heil when I read:

You don't need to apologize for your two cents Rae because this DOES stink. Bad karma and blatantly taking out competition whilst pretending to be looking out of the better good of the SERPs.

I wonder why NO ONE out there said one word to Google or Matt Cutts when you clearly stated TWO years ago in his blog that Google is seeking out "kiwi" for nomination as THE BEST fruit and will NOT give them value when they find them?

Back to the topic:
I 301 every page somewhere, never return 404, I don't consider it to be spammy, and finally I've done it many 10's of times and never suffered in the SERP's for it.

I wish Google/Yahoo/MSN could spend all their time innovating their algo's and tools instead of defeating spammers...
I think that a very large portion of "innovating their algo's" is so they can combat SPAM so that the SERP's are useful and not full of crap.
