Well if they are relevant by Google's standards - why aren't they on the organic listings at all? How come just local? and how come they take 40% of one space and 0% of the other? I mean if one location was listed - fine.. but 4? are they really that big? I think not, I think they just have a good LSEM (Local Search Engine Manipulation) team :-)

Nice.
though in my expensive B2B marketing experience, the main problem is getting the organization to assimilate search engine writing concepts, getting them to change titles, headers and content to better fit theusers' behavior and less about their positioning and marketing verbiage. IMO this is the real challenge in B2B marekting.

Hi Sidney,
I saw your comments and I feel I must add something here.

Following your tone of writing, you are probably not a beginner , therefore you are aware of the happenings and the things people asked about.

Going to conferences abroad for many years, my friends and colleagues always ask me afterwards "what have you learned?".
I think this is the wrong question. I think that for the more experienced professionals - sessions as SphinnCon are more about re-visiting theories and methds you alrweady know with peers, and a lot of networking.

In our business, the nature is that most SEO's work almost alone - as consultants, as in house teams or as enterpreneurs/affiliates etc. Not a lot of us, especially in a small industry like we have in Israel have the privilage of speaking, consulting and debating issues with professionals, on ongoing basis.

Events such as SphinnCon gathers us all in one place at a given time, and offers us the opportunity to meet, talk to eachother and discuss the latest issues.

I can personally tell you, that after more than 8 years experience in various verticals of SEO and web marketing in general, I can definitely say that I gained professional value from the meetings, not to mention the networking values.

That being said, this was the first SphinnCon ("Evar"....) and of course there is always room to improve... I am sure that by the next event Barry et al will have much more past data to analyze, in order to ake the next event a full blown SMX.

The idea behind the quiz and such, is to create some kind of a benchmarking for our very fluid, very subjective and evolving industry.

I think that the SEOMoz Quiz is certainly not a 100% bullet proof examination for a PRO, but most certainly when you look at questions and answers and overall rank, you can get a general idea about how knowledgable the person in front of you is.

Secondly, I was recently requested by a high profile client to assist them to learn the practice. I can tell you one of the first things for them was to go about and take the exam, then learn the mistakes and find the answers. It's a great learning process IMO.
