As for people blogging because its good for SEO.... well of course people are going to do this! But it can be a good thing... after all, we're telling people they need to make their websites *more relevant*! Its easy to be snarky, but not everything that begins with SEO as its motivation is bad. Often, I find that people start with doing it for SEO, but end up creating a lot of relevant content in the process. Then, the division between doing it for SEO, and doing it for passion, self-expression, or other reasons becomes blurred.

The truth is, though, that no one seems to know for sure if the SEs are penalizing for using "display:none" in CSS. There is no evidence that I know of....
