I really don't think these video examples should classify as keyword stuffing.   I  probably say the word search engine optimization every 7 minutes in real life.   Sad? yes.  Unrealistic?  no.

I think we can all enjoy live blogging by taking it with a grain of salt, understanding it was produced at some haste.  I think it can represent interesting things in terms of the vibe or intensity of a session that later reporting might not capture.

As with any reporting, there is interpretiation, and it is more than possible for misconceptions to occur whether the blogging is "live" or not.  We don't believe everything we read do we?

This is a completely valid discussion rusty.  I feel like a totally impartial Google is an immpossibility.  As in all business (or govt), there are so many factors (most of them having to do with money) that will always persuade leaders or boards of directors, or whoever.  We must constantly be reminded that Google is run by a bunch of humans.  Humans that have feelings, dreams, desires, and biases.  Keeping this in our minds eye will help us to better interpret search results we recieve, as well as so many other things in media and in our lives.
Thanks for bringing this to our consideration.

Though I obviously understand that rankings mean nothing with out conversion, etc etc, I believe ranking reports are still essential to what we do.  Because we know the approximate search numbers for certain queries, we certainly have goals we are trying to reach, and it is a good thing to benchmark those goals as we progress.

By tracking these rankings on a regular basis, we can also begin to see the REAL relationship between rankings and visitors/conversions for a specific client and industry.  I believe that this is the BEST client education, and SEO education for that matter.   We know that we are optimizing for specific keyphrases, so why not provide reports on that progress?  Sometimes it is the only tangible way of showing progress, especially for highly competitive spaces.  Traffic will not increase by much when moving from position 50 to 41, but it sure makes a difference to the client, knowing that we are making progress.

I welcome other thoughts on this, but I fail to see how dropping ranking reports would be a bonus.  In fact, it seems like an easy way to put off having to show any real progress for months at a time.  Good SEO's should be able to show you where you started, where you are, and where you are headed.  With only the help of analytics, the "where you are" can be pretty ambiguous.

Agreed.  I guess I just think that "correlation" can be an important thing for everyone to be aware of.  I think we're all on the same page here.

Come on you Social Media Marketers!

I will say that this is a really interesting list. It is so simple and straight forward. Probably one of the clearest justifications for SMM I have seen in a while.

Wow! this was quite a provocative most eh?  It seems to me that everyone commenting here is essentially saying the same thing.  Of course it is preferable to optimize the code to search engine spec, but can it be done without?  Of course!  We had a client that just didn't want us to touch their code nor did they want to have their dev team make seo changes, but did we turn them down?  We warned them it would be a bit more difficult, but in the end, we overcame the obstacle.  We all know on-page optimization is important, but a great SEO is adaptable!

I have to agree with your comment LtDraper.  Though I am not a blackhatter, I am fully aware of reality.  There is a ton of money in it and it is not going away!
