I had a look after the show and his site never did rank where he said it did!
Is the iPhone the dominant mobile search mobile phone? I don't know. Also apple fans probably will want to search with Google, even if Yahoo is the default.
This is a strange one, but I am sure that Google will address it now that it has been noticed.
Story: 10 Common SEO Mistakes
1. Using the same keyword more than twice in a Title tag - Having the same keyword listed in your heading 3 times or more will in fact reduce the relevance and strength of those keywords. Most important factor is that it’s readable to the user and is an accurate description of your page.
Keywords or phrases? Many of my title tags repeat a keyword more than once, but as part of different phrases. Works well for me?
3. Not having a Valid XML Sitemap - Create one and submit it to the webmaster consoles on the major search engines.
Not necessary, but a good to have.
4. URL’s not containing any keywords - Yes, I’m still seeing utterly useless URL structures. Just remember to include an accurate description of the page content in the URL.
May help a little, but not essential. See BBC news URLs.
10. Not having a 301 redirect setup - It’s not hard to do and it will help with your indexing like you wouldn’t believe!
301 to where? www to non-www or vice versa is good.
A really good article about getting small businesses to think about which keywords they should be targeting. I wouldn't do any SEO work for $300 though!
A really good article. I had the joys of explaining SEO elements to the editors I work with the other week.
Google have been testing clickthroughs since Fall/Autumn 2000:

Story: Are SEO Forums Still Needed?
I started reading about SEO on sites like searchengineforums.com and webmasterworld.com
I still post on them to this day, and on several others.
I like to read a mix of forums, news and analysis sites and blogs.
Yahoo never continue to amaze me with how bad they are...come on Microsoft...save Yahoo from themselves!
Story: Google's New Fav Icon
SEO salaries at agencies can start at under £20k, rising to about £30k for SEOs with a few years experience. SEOs with more than 5 years experience could earn up to £40k. Those with management experience and even more years of SEO could get a salary of £65k+benefits working as an SEO Director. Even though I am not on the market, I still get calls from recruitment agencies, wanting to interview for the top roles.
I wonder if the Microsoft dip has been party as a results of more people moving to Firefox. Of course Google being a much better search engine helps a lot too :)
There is loads of great stuff on here. Maybe too much to do with Twitter, but that just reflects what is hot at the moment. I don't get to see much spam on here, and even if some does come through, it won't climb up that high.
"Cloaking" goes on a lot of the time...just take a sample of stories from Google News...spiders are being shown different things from humans. Ads can be shown or the content can only be read once a visitor has registered with the site.
Small case study:
I know of a site that published a fake story, as their stories were being copied by a rival site. The rival site did copy the story, but the story did generate hundreds of links from forums and blogs in the sector. It was a great case of linkbait working at its best.
Loads of SEOs complain about Wikipedia ranking well for everything, but I would sooner see them rank highly than a commercial site.
Fantastic research effort. I am already doing a lot of the things mentioned, but there are always a few more parts to add into a search strategy :)
I have seen some evidence that Yahoo has used meta keywords to rank some pages for non-competitive phrases. I haven't researched this extensively though...there could still be external anchor text links helping the site rank for specific phrases.
I work in-house...I always have, but I do feel that a lot of companies can benefit from working with an SEO agency/consultant.
