seo2020
It will be interesting to follow this development ... I believe they are preparing for a full scale launch just before or after Christmas ... hopefully sooner.
Keep us posted!
I see search engine rankings as the side benefit. Rankings also increase through community... If you build a solid community then you will gain natural inbound links and the crowd will source your content to the farthest reaches of the social web which also has a positive effect on rankings.
Foregoing community for the purpose of rankings is a mistake when it is the community that will contribute to and enhance your rankings.
@bbcarter - I think that is the mentality on most user voted social platforms.
This is an example of someone trying to apply Internet marketing to social media marketing... They don't quite "get it".
It's time that Internet marketers wake up to the fact that social marketing is an entirely different game... The old rules do not apply. Social marketing requires that you be a real person that is "genuinely" trying to help the communities in which you participate.
This is a great gest post... I'm passing it on... Hopefully all the marketers out there will see it and re-think their strategies.
This is a major point that any person or company enterning social media as a marketing vehicle should understand.
Great article ... there is power in developing relationships with people in a real and natural way. Then your marketing is not an effort but a natural result of having developed and fostered real relationships.
LOL ... There is no longer a need for paid links... Traditional SEO has to undergo an evolution in order to survive... Here's an idea... How about everyone use social media and the search engines the way they are designed?
Good relevant content shared with friends in social networks that "genuinely" contribute to the well being of the community will get all the links they ever need with 1/10th the work. The search engines love it and you'll be rewarded long-term with high search engine visibility.
Why can't marketers grasp this simple concept and quit trying to GAME the system using old school SEO tactics?
Hmmm....
