Very useful also for those who are not SEO's too
Good Post . Keep up the Good Work
Harith and Donna
Harith :
You know Matt better.......... Amazon??? I dont think So
But he Might have some other Plans in the future.
Harith
I dont think Google wants to Hurt any one. Yeah there might be some advantages and disadvantages. Let's take the good things and Ignore the rest. Some of the things Goolgle does will hurt some businesses, But I beleive Google is trying to solve most of the legit problems. The tools and advice they provide are to identify the problems and eventually trying to solve if someone innocent is affected by that.
What would be better is, to inform those who are affected by their penalties that the issue is being considered and give an answer like how Matt explained the situations in few of the comments here in Sphinn,
Come on Harith you started this post to get some Sphinns right? :) Just kidding.
I guess there will be some good discussions here in this post
Wow, Every once in a While Danny does these long posts yet Great Posts. Too many Bad Mouth for SEO, but we know what is good and what works, In the begining it was little upsetting but Now, I learned to kee ignoring those Bad mouth.
Good Post Danny
Yeah again. I started to Ignore those who say dont do SEO or SEM. Recently there was an post in the Local Newspaper and We did Blogged about it.

I guess this is old:) Have to keep up with Sphinn post more often. Thank you Neyne for pointing it out
Harith
Sometimes, I feel sorry for those people who are not aware of these things. Some of them who have read about links, submiting to Directories years before, still try to get links (Paid or non Paid) thinking that they are increasing the visibility of their site. I try my best to inform those who still follow those rules.
Yes as you mentioned, If these guidelines are posted somewhere officially, that will be a good place to refer them to, Since they will Trust the guidelines than anyone just informing.
I am Sure Matt Cutts will try to do his Best
Cheers
Suresh

Good Post Scott.
I had a post on Things to Consider before Submitting to Local Listings here:
http://searchenginedetails.com/2008/01/have-you-considered-these-while.html
I agree that it is an issue of Usability as well. I had some of our clients adding the footer links and adviced them to remove the footer links, Have been monitoring and saw some significant change in thier rankings. I showed it to a normal user and asked them if that was useful for them or not. Most of them said that was not useful. So had the clients remove the links and saw the changes in the ranking back in a months time.
I think Matt Cutts would always say. Show it to a Normal User and get inputs from them:)
Thank for the post Peter
I think as SEO's we can learn a lot from Jason Calacanis. He is a smart guy and we can learn a lot from his Prespective. Even thou, Jason has argued so much about SEO. He knows the value of search. I might not say that Mahola is an invention but Mahola became popular in a very short period of time. He sure has some good ideas and knows how to implement those
Just my 2 cents :)
Yes, Use Google, It applies to Digg as well. You can never find even your own submits in Digg
Thanks Harith for looking into it. Untill now I dint find any answers to the problem. It would be great if someone can find what is it that is causing the problem
The site has been registered in 1996, but recently like 3 months before in August they did a Redesign.
I wonder what is coming or I doubt it already happened this year, We all know that something or the other happens at this time of the year. Any Tips Matt:) I had one of my client effected( I dont know for sure why), I discussed with Matt and he doubt that there is something to do with the Data Center. And Danny also said that He never heard of anything like this. The site which i am talking about is www.actionquest.com the problem with this site is at the begining of the every month the Rankings goes up for the keywords and at the end of the month the rankings drops. I wrote the URL down in that little magic book of Matts where he always carries. Waiting to see some kind of solution or the problem itself. I know last year I had one problem with a Local listings and Matt had it solved in a weeks after informing in the Pub con 2006.
Wonder if anyone else have seen somthing like this as well. I doubt that this is something similar to the Florida update ???
Thank you
Suresh
Thanks for the Article.
