Funny, that was kind of my thinking when I created the graphic for the post. Like most things, cutting corners makes for bad processes. As far as me, I have most certainly been guilty of it only to learn the errors in my ways..... dats how we learn.
I love Jordan... just hate the term 'KEI' as there is few places that create a true metric for 'competition' which is a major factor in the calculations... grumble mumble...
Now careful with the 'gay' thang... wouldn't want this place turning into Syndk8 ...bwaaa aha haha ha ha
Wow, I remember that conversation - it is interesting to see many of my early thoughts on Plurk are still holding up. Great round up of some of the 'usual suspects' on plurk and getting some great insights Todd!! Woo hoo (sorry no dancing Banana's here)
Story: Happy 1st Birthday, Sphinn!
Thanks for the memories Sphinn!! (and the obsessive compulsive disorder)
Well, I have a post I am polishing for Collective Thoughts relating to standards of quality... this rant was actually unrelated, but should tie in well..... glad ya had fun with it...
...tnx fer the SPhinn as always Zak....
Well, there have been many REPUTABLE blogs that mention tactics that verge on simple spamming... social media spamming, comment spamming..... when in the end if you're trying make silk from a sows ear for short term gain you are nothing more than an infomercial. To me SEO is as much about the websites you work on/for as it is about the methods. The quick hit artist usually is weak and looks for short cuts in their methods.
Anyway, was but a rant - a bee in my bonnet.
It seems a few folks missed where I was saying if they were a predominant part of a system... then methinks it is BS. As for black hat short term gain, that is another SEO.... Search Engine Oportunist ;0)
the ever enigmatic Lisa once said something like such;
Never speak badly or others in blog posts
Never respond to those that speak badly of you
As a seasoned ranting veteren, I have learned to take this to heart the last while. I have no interest in dumping on peeps and will not respond in kind - but that's just me.
As for what doesn't belong on Sphinn is another thing... there have been plenty of asides and personal nature posts here (both positive and negative). To those that want the 'Web Marketing Times' you might want to consider that this is SOCIAL media and that kind of stuff is not only entertaining, but often very SOCIAL.... he he...
..thanks for the Sphinn Ken, us up-and-coming bloggers need all the help we can get....
..really? More like 'Onsite SEO - there's more to life than link building' - lol. I really just thought aligning various search techniques with content creation/maintenance, some useful reminders might appear....
...james, was from Ken suckering me on Plurk with a thread saying something along the lines of; "support this up and coming Blogger with a Sphinn if U like it" -- I ran off to be a supportive guy, only to find this... lol... smart ass this one is yes? he haz my precious, indeed he does. bwaaa ha ha ha ha....
I just want to know if that's ONE at a TIME or all of them together? Sounds hairy to me....lol
Story: The New Sphinn Blog Launches
Weekly round up? Damn thieves I tells ya!! bwaaa ha ha ha ha...... Glad to hear it though kudos!
My goodness Dave, you'd have no such problem here... I live to sip from the chalice of yippitee-friggen Do-da and rarely met a moment I thought was dull. Work hard, Play hard.... only way to fly!
Whoah back there Dave my brother.... as a Party Animal nominee, I am from Canada where we certainly know a thing or two about the fine art of letting go.... seems the gauntlet has been thrown!!
To be honest there have been a few patents on such systems to 'identify influencers' over the last while.... though I am gonna dig into this one tonight to see how it differs.... Oh, and FriendRank? hmmmmm
You're most certainly welcome! .... how real the thoughts are as far as accuracy, we may be waiting awhile. It was interesting delving into the minds of Plurkers and trying see what it is and more importantly where it may be headed. It will be interesting to follow up at a later date for new perceptions and feelings.
hmmmmmm - ya'll might want to read up on this Google Patent - http://www.huomah.com/search-engines/algorithm-matters/your-favortite-sites-could-rock-the-serps.html
Has to do with ranking signals from Favorties... now the engineer in this story was also involved in search history.... so this could be mostly Personalized Search related IMO
It sounds like it would have polluted the personalized results IMO - the engineer worked in both the bookmarks and search history so it sure sounds that way.
Wiep is da man wid da plan - when it comes to link building... U can safely put him in yer RSS Reader.. always good stuff
I strangely often look to see what is conversation-worthy.... I am much happier when a submission has conversations that ensue - regardless if I myself am not overly opinionated towards a topic.
But as I was saying to Li, the best way to kill any exploit (black hat/social spammer/link spammer) is to get it some publicity. So in this case if peeps are going to 'out' themselves, by all means I am happy to promote it....lol.... I'm only sayin' ;0)
...and Jill, I noticed U didn't vote and left a comment.... true to yer word huh? hee hee....
