Barry, I completely agree that companies need it. A lot of the time it just happens on a grass roots effort through and not some much one person.
Will, glad you've subscribed!

Finally!! Took them long enough! Now if they could only become a real-time news site again! =P
The post even says this is bogus:
CORRECTION: Barry Schwartz DID NOT join Search Engine Journal.
So, to start, nothing against Shari and the post, but I would really like to know how much research was put into it before actually writing and submitting this?
A couple things to think about:
1. As Stephan mentioned in a previous comment, "Matt Cutts has publicly condoned the use of PageRank sculpting..." and it is true that they use this within their own properties.
2. There are many times where a search engine will crawl and index a contact us page...just because there is a form on the page, doesn't mean that the engine will automatically decide not to crawl it.
Before posting something on a widely read and is talking about Organic SEO, you should probably do your research. That's just my 2 cents.
I agree with DoshDosh...I think everyone has a chance. Especially if you do a lot of digging yourself and have a good base of friends on there. It also doesn't hurt to have your story submitted through some top ranking diggers.

I'll be in town on Monday night, lets get a group together for dinner somewhere!! I'd also love to know what parties are going on and where.
I agree with the fact that everyone needs a website, especially being a big SEO and web geek...and i am soo reliant on the wbe....but I do also understand that some businesses can't support it and it would be too much of a burden for them.
Lots of these one man shows that are new immigrants and stuff that rely on Word of Mouth and referrals and have never even used a computer. Even funnier yet, I have done business with many compuer consultants that don't have websites because they are soo short sighted and single minded of "fixing pc's and computer networking." These types of people would just drive the web business away because, just knowledge wise, they are lost with this stuff and are too short sighted to have someone maintain it.
