Oh, I'm sorry, you lost your shot at #1 for Hassenplarfer: http://tinyurl.com/5jemmw
Yes, but in the mean time we can submit you to 5000 other search engines for just $9.95.
Will they accord value to links, though? If so, how? Hmmm. FlashRank, anyone?
MOST overrated EVER? What about spamming the keyword tag? :)
Just kidding. Great article!

Thanks guys! Glad you like it.
If anyone has additions/changes I'd love to get them.
So, you use 'SEO 2.0' and 'Web 2.0' in a single article AND in your blog name. Does that mean all bloggers hunting for links and controversy resort to overused terms and simple-minded stereotyping?
Hmmm. I think I'll write a blog post about that.
Yup, event tracking's been in full release for a few months. Great article explaining it!
Shoemoney knows plenty about SEO - he's made a lot more money at it than I have, that's for sure. He made an argument. I responded.
Just gotta point out I did NOT tell anyone to jump in any lakes (for once)!
I'm not sure it hurts to hear from someone who has a radically different viewpoint than ours.
I know it can be grating/annoying/infuriating, but I still find it kinda fascinating.
Not that I'm going to invite Jason over for dinner or anything, but...
"Authentic" means that there's enough fact to make customers happy over the long term. So, even if the find out PART of the message is a fib, they're still happy. It's from Seth Godin's All Marketers are Liars.
I would argue that authenticity stems from sincerity and belief as much as fact. It's subjective. If you don't believe Tylenol will help your headache, nothing will convince you of the truth. If you do believe playing classical music for your baby will make them smarter, nothing will convince you otherwise.
Tylenol and classical music have strong proponents who believe each is 'authentic'. And detractors who don't.
A lie, on the other hand, flies in the face of all intelligence. It may do so up front (like if I said I had a full head of hair) or later, after you purchase (if I sold you a miracle cure for baldness). In either case, it's going to make you like me less.
I hope this makes sense. This is a concept I've spent a long time chewing over, and I ain't done yet.
Just expanded a bit on my original comment.
I'm not suggesting that lying is good marketing. Want to make sure that that's clear, if nothing else.
I suspect so, too. I hope this doesn't lead to blanket reduction in the trust for .edus. But as long as it doesn't go too far we should be OK.
I'm STILL waiting for someone to tell me what ANTI social media is. I hate buzzwords...
Thanks everyone!!!
My 'scum' remarks are of course a bit extreme. I DO wonder if my family wishes I went into law instead, though.
