I found reports of Google not crawling many sites due to a DNS issue. It appears, but has not yet be verified, that the DNS issue is on the Google side. Where GoogleBot thinks a URL is not there, when in reality, it is.

Seems like some publishers are hiding the fact that they are nofollowing their paid links from their advertisers. So when GoogleBot sees the link, it is nofollowed, but a normal user does not see the nofollow attribute. read more »
